Our Mission & History.
Heroes of New Orleans (HONO) is a grassroots non-profit community organization dedicated to youth career development and advocacy. Following personal experience with gun violence, HONO founder Greg Ravy turned his focus to the community around him. He decided that "it was going to be a great day because we make it a great day". Since that first event in 2012, HONO has been working to make Algiers and the greater New Orleans community a better, safer place for all.
In service, HONO takes a holistic approach by empowering both our young professionals and their families. By improving career path exposure and educational attainment, we aim to improve overall health and human welfare for the families of New Orleans.
Our dream is to instill hope through empowerment for children living in both socially and economically disadvantaged environments.
We extend this offer to all in our community, adults and elders, because every member plays an integral role in youth success. Through mentorships and community events, we believe in creating a brighter future for the children and families of the city of New Orleans.
HONO seeks to empower a new generation of voices for the people.
