COMMUNITY
ENRICHMENT.

PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.

Youth Development Programs are needed in our community for student empowerment through positive experiences and exposure necessary for positive-growth and development to encourage life changes through honesty, integrity, respect, structure, and excellence. The vision of HONO is to foster a commitment to young people that will promote family-like systems, enhance interpersonal skills, and reassert a sense of hope in the future. Through our pledge and programs, we strive to instill the vital skills necessary for students to be successful in school, at home, and ultimately in life.  Learn More

EDUCATION &
TRAINING

The Education and Training component is a high priority in helping both younger and older youth in obtaining their High School diplomas, focusing on interventions to aid the youth in achievement.  We provide individualized screening protocols to determine the best learning pathway for enrolled students. Advancing to the best educational goal can take many forms. Students have different setbacks, dreams, and aspirations. This program is designed to help students create paths to a successful future which includes four precise learning pathways, High School Diploma, HISET certificate, Career Focus, Advanced Skill Trade. Within the screening process, our Academic Leadership Department, along with the assistance of the referring high school will aid the student in determining the appropriate direction to educational attainment, continue to higher education options or a more career focused path. Learn More

This component will provide adult mentors for program participants. Partnerships with organizations will provide mentors, such as faith- and community-based organizations, business firms, and college leadership. Mentors will assist youth with becoming a model structure in the community and may address issues such as family support and unification, and assistance with understanding how to secure support services.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

The Workforce Development component features year-round and summer internship opportunities for youth ages 14-17 and work experience and placement for apprenticeships and employment for 14-21.  The internships will provide participants a chance to work, either individually or in groups, on projects in which they interact with.  Learn More

YOUTH SPORTS

HONO’s sports program will assist youth with remaining active while avoiding health disparities. These life skills are integrated throughout the sports program as well as by instructors who will weekly conduct formal classes to teach the actual skills and how to apply the skills learned in all aspects of life.
